During the Islamic Golden Age, Waqf funds played a crucial role in building schools, hospitals, and public fountains across the Muslim world, helping to advance education, science, and social welfare.
11th Centaury
Many Waqf properties were nationalized or mismanaged during the colonial period, leading to a decline in their effectiveness. However, efforts to restore and modernize Waqf systems began in the 20th century.
